
Although, pregnancy is not the time for weight loss goals, exercise is still very beneficial to the mother and baby. ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) lists these benefits for exercising during pregnancy:
- Prevents excessive weight gain
- Decreases postpartum recovery time
- Maintains physical fitness
- Decreases low back pain
- Improves symptoms of depression
- Decreases risk of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and c- section
- Eases constipation
- Helps you lose weight after the baby is born.
Exercising while pregnant doesn’t have to be extreme. Just get your body moving with some light weight strength exercises to help maintain lean muscle and incorporate a simple walking routine. Stretching and yoga feels amazing while pregnant as well and can really help with the aches and pains of pregnancy.
